The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement, jail operations, civil services, marine navigation, and drug task force membership. Their divisions include Civil, Corrections, Patrol, Investigations, K-9, Marine, S.E.R.T., and Snowmobile. The Narcotics Unit is part of a drug task force that focuses on Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties. All of these divisions may play a role in warrant execution depending on the case. The Sheriff's Office enters active warrants into the state system so other agencies can see them.

Under Criminal Procedure Law Article 120, a warrant of arrest can be served at any hour of the day or night. Only law enforcement officers may make an arrest based on a warrant. Citizens cannot execute warrants. If your name is listed on the warrants page, the Sheriff's Office advises coming to the station to clear the matter up.

Washington County Active Warrants List

Washington County is one of the few counties in New York that posts warrant information on its official website. The warrants on this site are for informational purposes only. Outstanding warrants on the page are updated throughout the work week. Warrants are continuously being issued and cancelled 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so the online list may not always be current.

All warrants should be verified through the Washington County Sheriff's Office or through N.C.I.C., the National Crime Information Center. The fact that a warrant is listed on the page does not mean that the Sheriff's Office will extradite the offender or that the warrant is still valid. If you have information that might help officers locate a wanted person, you can report a tip. Do not report a tip unless you have actual information that could help.

Note: The online warrants page is updated regularly but should not be used as the sole source for confirming whether a warrant is still active.

Washington County Warrant Arrests

The Washington County recent arrests page shows arrest information as a public record. Recent arrests include charges for grand larceny, weapons offenses, and fugitive from justice arrests. The Sheriff's Office investigates various crimes and makes arrests based on warrants and probable cause. The page carries a disclaimer that all charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Anyone who uses the arrest information to injure, harass, or commit a criminal act against any person can be subject to criminal prosecution. This is a standard warning on most New York county arrest pages. The information is posted for transparency and public awareness. Warrant arrests happen when officers find someone who has an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop, investigation, or other encounter.
