Search Bronx County Warrant Records
Bronx County warrant records are managed through the New York City court system and the NYPD. As one of the five boroughs of New York City, the Bronx has its own Criminal Court and Supreme Court that handle warrant cases. Arrest warrants and bench warrants get issued by these courts for criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. The NYC Sheriff's Office handles civil enforcement in the Bronx, while the NYPD serves criminal warrants. You can check warrant status through the court clerk or by calling the relevant court directly.
Bronx County Warrant Records Overview
Bronx Criminal Court Warrants
The Bronx County Criminal Court is at 215 East 161st Street, Bronx, NY 10451. The phone number is 718-618-2460. This court is the main source for warrant information in the Bronx. It handles misdemeanor cases, violations, and preliminary felony hearings. Bench warrants get issued when someone does not show up for a court date. The court clerk can tell you if there is an active warrant tied to a case.
Warrant searches can be done through the clerk's office during business hours. You need a valid photo ID. The court processes a high volume of cases each year given the size of the Bronx population. If you think you have an open bench warrant, the best step is to call the court clerk first. They can look up your case by name or docket number. You can also have a lawyer call on your behalf to find out the status before you go in.
The Bronx Criminal Court operates under the New York State Unified Court System. Per New York Criminal Procedure Law, arrest warrants are issued by local criminal courts when there is reasonable cause to believe someone committed a crime. The court clerk keeps records of all warrants that have been issued, served, or recalled.
Bronx Supreme Court Warrant Records
The Bronx Criminal Supreme Court is at 265 East 161st Street, Bronx, NY 10451. You can reach the court at 718-618-3100. The Chief Clerk is at 718-618-3000. This court handles felony cases, which means the warrants it issues are for more serious criminal matters. If a grand jury hands down an indictment and the defendant has not been arrested, the Supreme Court can issue a bench warrant.
Supreme Court warrants in the Bronx tend to involve violent crimes, drug offenses, and other felony charges. The court keeps its own set of records separate from the Criminal Court. Case files include warrant data, court appearances, and disposition details. You can request information through the clerk's office during normal hours. For older cases, you may need to file a formal records request.
NYC Sheriff's Office in Bronx County
The NYC Sheriff's Office Bronx Division is at 3030 Third Avenue, 2nd Floor, Bronx, NY 10455. Call them at (718) 993-3880. The Sheriff's Office in New York City works differently from county sheriffs elsewhere in the state. It mainly handles civil enforcement. That means civil warrants for things like evictions, property seizures, and enforcement of court-ordered judgments.
The NYC Sheriff's Office does not keep a public database of criminal arrest warrants. Criminal warrants in the Bronx are served by the NYPD. The NYPD Warrant Squad tracks and executes criminal warrants across all five boroughs, including the Bronx. If you need to check on a criminal warrant, the court system is a better place to start than the Sheriff's Office.
Note: The NYC Department of Correction also keeps records of people brought in on warrants and accepts FOIL requests for those records.

Bronx County Warrant Laws
Three types of warrants are used in Bronx County. Arrest warrants come from CPL 120.80 and can be served at any time of day or night. Bench warrants fall under CPL 530.70 and get issued when a person misses court. Search warrants are governed by CPL Article 690 and need a judge to find probable cause before signing. All three types are common in the Bronx given the borough's size and caseload.
After an arrest on a warrant, CPL 120.90 says the officer must complete fingerprinting and bring the person before a criminal court without unnecessary delay. The defendant can make a phone call. Sealed records are protected under CPL 160.50 and CPL 160.55. The Clean Slate Act, effective November 2024, allows automatic sealing of certain conviction records after waiting periods. This may limit access to some older Bronx County warrant records.
